Former President Donald Trump said Monday that he had taken a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and believes that doubting the effectiveness of the formulas is “playing right into their hands” of the Democratic left.

During a conversation with Bill O’Reilly, Trump again invited the public to get vaccinated and said Republicans should take credit for the rapid development of the drugs.

“Look, we did something that was historic. We saved tens of millions of lives worldwide. We together, all of us — not me, we — we got a vaccine done, three vaccines done, and tremendous therapeutics (like Regeneron and other things that have saved many lives,)” Trump told the audience in attendance. “Take credit for it…. Don’t let them take it away.”

Trump: for vaccines, not mandates

The former president said that, had it not been for the speed with which the vaccine was given, COVID-19 would have caused a disaster similar to the so-called Spanish Flu, which killed nearly 100 million people starting in 1917.

Moreover, he asked his followers not to doubt its effectiveness and to take the vaccine only as a personal decision.

“If you don’t want to take it, you shouldn’t be forced to take it. No mandates. But take credit because we saved tens of millions of lives. Take credit. Don’t let them take that away from you,” the former president insisted.

Despite suffering from Covid in September 2020, both Trump and former first lady Melania voluntarily got vaccinated in January.
