Elon Musk continues to make waves. Musk revealed he voted for Mayra Flores, who won the election for the 34th Congressional District of Texas and took away a seat that had been in the hands of Democrats for decades.

Not only did Musk vote for Republicans for the first time, but also commented that currently, his tendency is to vote for and support the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, in the 2024 presidential elections.

Upon the businessman’s comments, Mayra Flores welcomed him to the Republican Party. “The party of opportunity, prosperity, and freedom is here to stay. We look forward to working together and building a better future for all of America,” Flores said in a response to Musk.

Elon Musk endorses DeSantis

Musk’s endorsement of DeSantis comes at a time when the Florida governor’s leadership is being recognized. Just two weeks ago, Time magazine named DeSantis one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

“During the pandemic, most people stayed home, and those who didn’t probably move to Florida. Despite relentless criticism, Governor Ron DeSantis kept schools open, ensured Florida’s economy remained open for business, and allowed individuals to determine their own risk tolerance,” the article reads, as it praises the Republican’s work during the COVID-19 crisis.

The magazine details that the DeSantis-driven model of government works and upholds individual liberty while driving economic growth. “It’s one that has allowed Florida to emerge from the pandemic as a national model of personal freedom, economic growth, environmental protection, and education excellence. Florida continues to see record population growth, unemployment remains below the national average, the private sector is growing, and Florida remains a national leader in school choice.”
