Hatred Will Not Prevail

Elon Musk’s detractors will have to renew their source of nonsense talking points  in 2022. The trillionaire announced that he will pay more taxes than any other person in history, surpassing the sum of $11 billion. Musk made this figure public in response to comments made by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) who criticised TIME magazine for choosing the Tesla and SpaceX CEO as person of the year.

The systematic sowers of hate and resentment don’t seem to learn their lessons. In their divisive and polarising moods, they forget that Musk (or any other entrepreneur, for that matter) gives more to the community than they will ever be able to provide. But the discourse, of course, pays off for them. The “them versus us” has brought the country to its most fragile state, and that’s exactly when the ideologies that keep them in power permeate.

If the rhetoric of the Warrens, the Ocasio-Cortezes and the Sanders wins, the engine of the country —which is the ingenuity of men like Musk–-will be seduced by other horizons, and the “only in America” will be reduced to a mere anecdote. It’s up to us to make sure their discourse doesn’t succeed.
