Elon Musk is getting closer and closer to buying Twitter. According to the latest reports, the turbulent negotiation could come to an end this week. Among all the possible changes that the founder of SpaceX would bring to the social network, the return of Donald Trump might be on the agenda.
The South African’s proposal was $54.20 per share, valuing the social media company at $44 billion. His interest caused its share price to soar by up to 22%. Despite the comings and goings, everything suggests that the negotiations will come to fruition.
With Musk as Twitter’s owner, speculation about a possible Trump return to the platform was not long in coming and was even fueled by the entrepreneur.
“I think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country, and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice,” expressed the also founder of Tesla in early 2022. In turn, he indicated that the decision was “morally bad” and that, should he make the decisions, he would “reverse” it.
Early on, Musk stated his intention to increase freedom of speech on Twitter, though that doesn’t mean users would have unlimited privileges to say “something that is illegal or destructive to the world.”
As for account suspensions, the South African businessman is clear. “should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots, or scam, spam accounts,” he specified.
However, despite all of Musk’s goodwill, Donald Trump previously stated that he has no intention of returning to Twitter and instead intends to stay on his own platform, Truth Social.
