ELON MUSK said the world needs more oil and gas. He stressed that nuclear power plants should continue to operate “while also developing sustainable sources of energy” —Reuters reported. The statements were made during an event with European leaders.
“I think we actually need more oil and gas, not less, but simultaneously moving as fast as we can to a sustainable energy economy” — Musk, Tesla’s CEO and largest shareholder, said at a conference in Stavanger, Norway.
Musk’s goals
Musk also explained that his goal is to have the electric car manufacturer’s autonomous driving technology ready by the end of this year and available for the US, according to Reuters. “One of the biggest challenges the world has ever faced is the transition to sustainable energy and to a sustainable economy (…) That will take some decades to complete” —Musk noted.
During the event he also referred to the low birth rate and expressed his concern about the situation. “One of my less obvious things to be concerned about is the birth rate, and I think it’s important that people have enough babies to support civilization so that we don’t dwindle away” —Musk added.
