“Lost close to 2000 followers in the past 24 hours for telling them the truth and refusing to lie to them,” Reagan Battalion wrote on Twitter. A conservative, Republican, not exactly moderate group.
I have also lost followers for reporting irrefutable and objective facts. Simply by sharing them. I don’t care. In the end, it is a convenient cleansing; but it is a curious case, to which it is worth dedicating a few words.
In the days following the November 3rd election, I constantly said that the result was not definitive because there were still two processes underway. That of the election, which was narrowly decided and resulted with Joe Biden as the winner; and that of the Courts, where Donald Trump was ready to dispute the results and punish those responsible for the alleged fraud he was denouncing. For a long time, this was the case, until finally, the courts’ process was also decided. The result is now final: Joe Biden won the election.
As hard as it may be for those of us who see Joe Biden’s eventual presidency as the first steps in plunging the United States into a chaos of socialist and anti-freedom policies, there is no point in angrily refusing to acknowledge the objective facts. The sole and absolute reality is that all the legal efforts of Trump’s team were completely diluted on the way and the record, for his candidacy, is not very favorable.
Of the fifty lawsuits filed in different states, fifty have been dismissed; all the states certified their results and the Electoral College voted, on December 14, in favor of Joe Biden; the head of the Department of Justice, Attorney General Bill Barr, a great ally of Trump, ruled out that the investigations of federal judges had found decisive elements of fraud. Finally, the Supreme Court, Trump’s great hope, intervened: first in Pennsylvania, on December 8, and rejected Trump’s appeal. Then it dismissed what was the great opportunity of the Republican campaign: the lawsuit brought by Texas, accompanied by 17 other states.
Finally, after the Electoral College vote, Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader of the Senate and the most important person on Capitol Hill, put an end to the controversy: “I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden.” “The Electoral College has spoken,” he said. For a long time, McConnell had refused to call Biden president-elect.
Regarding the Supreme Court, Trump said the justices are cowards and he is disappointed in them. There is no room for such a tantrum since it is a Supreme Court with a strong conservative majority, composed of nine justices, three of whom were nominated by Donald Trump himself. This is a sign, in fact, of the manipulation of the Democrats, who tried to boycott all the president’s legitimate nominations (especially Amy Coney Barrett’s, the last one), for suggesting that the conservative judges were incapable of being impartial and completely faithful to American institutions.
There were irregularities in the elections as is often the case in a non-centralized process subject to the criteria of fifty different governments and legal structures. Is this enough to reverse an election defined by millions of votes? We do not know. Even the president’s legal team has not proven this. A lot of noise, but not enough for any state court to take the allegations seriously. Dominion’s relationship with Smartmatic is highly problematic and brings up episodes of the past marked by obscene numbers manipulation. However, nothing more than a much-questioned link has yet been exposed. Our duty, and that of the authorities, is to continue investigating.
Biden’s triumph hits hard and hits Venezuelans especially hard. It is really bad news for those who want to rescue Venezuelan’s freedom, those who want America to continue to be a free nation, and for those who bet on Donald Trump’s reelection.
However, I lament the short-sightedness of peers. The worst thing is that they allow themselves to be fooled. First, it was said that we should wait for the federal courts, then for the Supreme Court and then for December 14, with the Electoral College. They say that the Senate, which has a Republican majority, has the final say, but when its leader, McConnell, congratulates Biden, they change the thesis and now everything falls to the House of Representatives (where there is less hope, since it has a Democratic majority).
This was the tweet for which Reagan Battalion lost 2000 followers: “Joe Biden is going to be President, you can either live in fantasy land dreaming about some force that will magically overturn an election, or you can join those of us who are going to fight him and block his leftist agenda at every step of the way.”
One writes about the odds, and today the odds are that Joe Biden will be sworn in on January 20 of next year. It’s tough, it’s unfortunate, but the man who represents no project, is not a leader in his party, and is surrounded by corruption scandals, beat Trump, an unstoppable political phenomenon who completely revolutionized the Republican Party. Running away from this will not make him disappear or alter the facts.
The dilemma is clear: either deny reality or face it. I adhere to the position of the Reagan Battalion, even if one loses followers because of it.
