During an interview on “Meet the Press” NBC News anchor Chuck Todd asked Kamala Harris, VP of the United States, if the border is secure, to which she replied that the immigration system was “broken” under the Trump administration and still “needs to be fixed.”
“The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular, over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed,” she said.
Harris blamed the Trump administration for the broken immigration system. However, all records for illegal migration numbers have been broken during the Biden administration.
Harris went as far as to say that the U.S. southern border is “secure” despite countless Border Patrol reports reflecting the severe crisis that includes apprehending criminals and terrorists, increased power of cartels, and the rise of crimes such as human trafficking.
“We’re going to have two million people cross this border for the first time ever. You’re confident this border’s secure?” Todd asked.
“We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration,” Harris replied ambiguously.
“But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix given the deterioration that happened over the last four years. We also have to put into place a law and a plan for a pathway for citizenship for the millions of people who are here and are prepared to do what is legally required to gain citizenship,” she added.
While this is happening, the number of illegal migrants at the southern border will surpass two million this fiscal year, exceeding last year’s already historic 1.7 million apprehensions.
Numbers contradict Kamala Harris
According to a Fox News report, more than 500,000 illegal migrants have escaped from being apprehended by agents in FY 2022 alone. In addition, there are records of about 55,000 “escapes” each month this fiscal year, and that number does not include people who have not been detected crossing the border.
The number is also in addition to the 389,155 leaks that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas previously testified there were in all of FY 2021.
At least 66 individuals on the terrorism watch list have been detected attempting to cross the border in 2022. The exact number of criminals and terrorists who have managed to slip through and would be free in the U.S. is unknown.
