A New Zealand family got a surprise after buying a suitcase at an auction. When they opened it, they found parts of a dismembered body. Upon realizing this, the family decided to call the police to report the situation.

“Cops do not believe the family that had purchased the bags as part of an online storage locker auction in Papatoetoe was involved in what is now being investigated as a suspected homicide,” the New York Post reviewed.

The family’s reaction

EFE news agency explained that New Zealand Police Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua said the human remains were those of two children, whose identities are unknown.

“The bodies were hidden in two suitcases of similar size (…) I believe the suitcases have been stored for several years,” Vaaelua said at a press conference broadcast by Radio New Zealand.

Neighbors also testified that they saw the moment the family opened the suitcase. “It is understood that a neighbor across the street from the property where the remains were found witnessed the family opening the suitcases and saw their distressed immediate reaction.”
