New revelations come to light related to the investigations involving the son of the president of the United States, Hunter Biden. This time it is known that the head of the FBI allegedly asked agents not to continue with the investigations in order not to influence the presidential elections.

Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) wrote a letter to the Inspector General of the DOJ, Michael Horowitz, to demand an explanation about the possibility of pausing investigations that would be crucial for the country.

“These new allegations provide even more evidence of FBI corruption and renew calls for you to take immediate steps to investigate the FBI’s actions regarding the laptop,” the senator wrote.

According to Johnson, the FBI chiefs told their employees: “You will not look at that Hunter Biden laptop,” promising that they would not alter the outcome of the 2020 elections.

Johnson said the new whistleblower claims should be enough to prompt the inspector general to take immediate action.

“While I understand your hesitation to investigate a matter that may be related to an ongoing investigation, it is clear to me based on numerous credible whistleblower disclosures that the FBI cannot be trusted with the handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop,” Johnson wrote.

Johnson’s letter comes after “highly credible whistleblowers” accused the FBI and DOJ of “burying dirt on President Biden’s son” by calling it “disinformation.”

This is not the first time it has come to light that investigations against Hunter Biden were paused to allegedly not disrupt elections in the country.

In July 2021, a Politico report revealed that Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss waited until after the election to seek search warrants as part of the investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes.

Weiss began his investigation in 2018 but in 2020 decided to postpone seeking warrants or issuing grand jury subpoenas so as not to influence the election.

Weiss is a Republican appointed in 2018 to his position permanently by former President Donald Trump. According to the report, he halted the investigation process because he feared the public would become politicized.

“Weiss’s decision to avoid revealing the investigation in a highly charged political atmosphere — a move that might have boosted Donald Trump’s campaign, even at the cost of politicizing the probe — was consistent with his sober-minded approach to his job, said people familiar with Weiss’s career,” Politico points out.

In addition to the FBI, the Treasury and Justice are also accused of withholding information

Legislators such as Senator Chuck Grassley and Rep. James Comer have publicly denounced that organizations like the FBI, the DOJ, and even the Treasury Department are obstructing investigations.

On July 25, an official Senate letter was made public, addressed to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland, asking them to investigate allegations from “highly credible whistleblowers” which claim that both the FBI and the DOJ would be interested in burying documentation involving Hunter Biden.

Senator Grassley insisted that the allegations were so severe that they would prove if confirmed, that both offices were “institutionally corrupted to their very core.”

Grassley wrote in the letter that the whistleblowers “alleged that the FBI developed information in 2020 about Hunter Biden’s criminal financial and related activity” and “was falsely labeled as disinformation.”

“If these allegations are true and accurate, the Justice Department and FBI are — and have been — “institutionally corrupted to their very core to the point in which the United States Congress and the American people will have no confidence in the equal application of the law,” he wrote.

“Attorney General Garland and Director Wray, simply put, based on the allegations that I’ve received from numerous whistleblowers, you have systemic and existential problems within your agencies,” added the senator while demanding an investigation and the release of any documents on the dismissed investigations on Hunter Biden.

James Comer of Kentucky has also charged that the Treasury Department is obstructing investigations into Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

According to Comer, Treasury officials refused to turn over the Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the House Oversight and Reform Committee unless the committee’s Democratic leadership approved the request.

Hunter, the second son of President Joe Biden, is currently under federal investigation for possible tax violations. Scrutiny has been growing over his foreign business dealings in countries such as Ukraine, Russia and China, particularly during Biden’s tenure as vice president in the Obama administration.

Comer previously wrote to Yellen in late May requesting SARs for Hunter Biden but received no response. He accused the Biden administration of restricting congressional access to SARs, citing a recent Treasury Department rule that allows congressional staff to review such materials in a Treasury reading room.

Hunter Biden under investigation

Hunter Biden is under federal investigation for possible tax fraud stemming from his foreign business dealings. The investigation began in 2018 in the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office and involved multiple financial and business activities in foreign countries that began when Hunter’s father was vice president.

It is being investigated whether Hunter Biden and his associates violated money laundering, tax and foreign lobbying laws, sources familiar with the case have said; however, the Justice Department does not report on the progress of investigations until charges are filed in court.
