FBI Under Fire for Trump Raid. Here’s How GOP (and a Democrat) Reacted

THE FBI‘s sudden raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago mansion generated a national political earthquake, provoking a reaction from the conservative world that, practically in unison, is questioning the agency led by Christopher Wray and the Department of Justice (DOJ) for an unclear operation that has left both Democrats and conservatives having many doubts.

Whereas the vast majority of politicians, journalists, and anchors who spoke out against the raid are linked to conservatism or Trumpism, there are other unexpected reactions, such as the tweet sent by former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who was a star of the Democratic Party until sexual harassment controversies caused him to lose his position as governor.

“DOJ must immediately explain the reason for its raid & it must be more than a search for inconsequential archives or it will be viewed as a political tactic and undermine any future credible investigation & legitimacy of January 6 investigations,” Cuomo stated on Twitter, drawing, even, praise from conservative opinion leaders and politicians.

Host and former Congressman Joe Walsh, a former Republican congressman turned Never Trumper, commented that, in the wake of the raid, many moderate conservatives who had lost enthusiasm for Trump are now turning again to support the former president.

A raid worthy of a third-world country?

President Trump himself, in his statement announcing the raid against him, mentioned that these types of actions only occur in third-world countries where there is no full democracy. Many have supported Trump’s words.

Fox News host Dan Bongino called the raid a “disgrace” and that it was “some Third World BULLSH*T.” He also explained that the United States is not an authoritarian country like Cuba, where political dissent is openly persecuted, but a republic where the constitution must be respected.

Marco Rubio (R-FL), also compared the FBI raid to an operation that would be carried out in Nicaragua, under the bloody regime of Daniel Ortega, the dictator who governs that Central American country.

“Biden is playing with fire by using a document dispute to get the @TheJusticeDept to persecute a likely future election opponent,” Rubio said.

More politicians, such as Senator Ted Cruz, came out in support of Trump and questioned the American justice system for its double standard when applying laws, citing controversial cases such as the investigations into Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings or the way evidence was gathered to link the former president to Russiagate.

“It is corrupt & an abuse of power. What Nixon tried to do, Biden has now implemented: The Biden Admin has fully weaponized DOJ & FBI to target their political enemies. And with 87K new IRS agents, they’re coming for YOU too.”

“This same Justice Department ignored Hunter Biden (who filmed himself committing multiple felonies); ignored Hillary Clinton; largely ignored BLM/ANTIFA rioters; ignored dangerous protesters outside Justices’ homes; and ignored Jeffrey Epstein’s clients,” the senator added

There was also harsh questioning of FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

“The @FBI raid on President Trump was approved by Director Wray, who also claimed that the illegal FISA warrants used to spy on Trump were constitutional,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) tweeted. “Today’s raid is outrageous and unjust, but predictable,”

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), meanwhile, said Attorney General Garland “must resign or be impeached” after the raid.

Even non-political figures, such as UFC President Dana White, weighed in on the Mar-a-Lago raid.

White, who has been a friend of Trump’s for a couple of decades, commented that he could name 10 other people’s homes that should have been raided before Trump’s.

So far there is little information about the raid and the motives behind it. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department has provided an update containing details of the operation. However, according to various news reports, the raid is related to a potential breach of White House records including classified materials.
