The exchange of fire between Israel and Gaza continued overnight Tuesday, with Palestinian militias firing at least a hundred rockets into central and southern Israel, killing two Israelis, including a minor, bringing the death toll in Israel from this escalation to five.
The Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist movements have fired more than a thousand shells since the escalation began on Monday, the worst in years, which the Israeli army has responded to with retaliatory shelling, leaving at least 35 Palestinians dead.
The two latest Israeli victims are a man in his 40s and his daughter, aged about 16, who were hit by a rocket tonight on the outskirts of the central Israeli city of Lod.
According to a police spokesman, both were killed “by a direct rocket hit” in the town.
Anti-aircraft sirens sounded during the night in Israeli towns bordering the strip, the southern part of the city of Bersheva, the Tel Aviv metropolitan area and other parts of the center of the country.
