The team of former President Donald Trump launched this Thursday a new social networking platform, which is intended to be an alternative to Big Tech platforms.

Trump’s advisor, Jason Miller, is leading the project. He made the announcement on Twitter and assured that it was “exciting” news. However, he did not detail if it is a definitive application to circumvent the censorship of the big platforms or if it is just a test.

The site, called GETTR, claims that its intention is to “fighting cancel culture, promoting common sense, defending free speech, challenging social media monopolies, and creating a true marketplace of ideas.”

The official launch of the platform will take place on July 4, Independence Day.

The new platform, yet another attempt

This is not the first time that the Republican’s team has tried to return to digital platforms with its own app. In early April, they launched a blog for the former president to keep in touch with his followers. Later, they informed that this communication channel was being closed.

Since leaving the Presidency of the United States, Trump has been censored by Big Tech, such as Twitter and YouTube. In March, the former president’s family denounced Facebook’s censorship of an interview with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.
