This Friday, former President Donald Trump’s legal team will present his defense in the impeachment trial being held in the Senate. As a result, on Thursday night some Republican Congress members met with the team of lawyers to discuss various aspects of the case.

According to the Washington Examiner, the Republicans who met with the lawyers want them to deliver a direct rebuttal, different from Tuesday’s criticized presentation made by Bruce Castor, the lawyer who opened the defense for the former president. “I expect them to be concise and clear and go over the facts,” said Sen. James Lankford (R-OK).

According to the media outlet, the Democrats failed to prove in their two-day filing that Trump incited the Capitol riots with his words in a speech before the rally and in tweets and speeches in the weeks after the November 3rd election.

“We will be done tomorrow or Saturday. I guarantee you that all 100 senators in that House have stood their ground and said, ‘We have to fight’ or ‘Fight like hell,'” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Thursday.
