The Republican Party has launched an Election Integrity Committee that will be dedicated to restoring transparency and trust for future elections.

Republican National Committee (RNC) chair Ronna McDaniel told Fox News that “election integrity is one of the most critical issues we face as a party and as a country.”

She detailed that the new committee will work closely with state parties and other election stakeholders across the country on voting policies and best practices.

Among its goals will be the panel will push to ensure that poll watchers can properly observe the counting processes, that “meaningful” voter ID laws are codified, and that all Americans have faith in the election process.

McDaniel, who last month was re-elected to a third two-year term leading the party’s national committee, emphasized that the commission she heads “will play a crucial role in restoring confidence in our elections, promoting election integrity and recommending best practices to ensure that future elections are free, fair and transparent.”

The new committee will be led by Republican Party of Florida Chairman Joe Gruters, and Ashley MacLeay of the District of Columbia National Committee will serve as co-chair. In addition, it will consist of 12 men and 12 women, representing the RNC from 21 states and the District of Columbia.
