Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed a bill banning the implementation of federal gun control that violates the Second Amendment of the Constitution. The legislation, HB 2111, titled the “Second Amendment Firearms Freedom Act,” had passed the Arizona House and Senate.

The document was then sent to the governor’s desk. Ducey signed the bill into law on Tuesday despite petitions against it by the Mike Bloomberg-affiliated “Everytown for Gun Safety.”

Meanwhile, KTAR detailed that a Democratic official criticized the measure. Paul Penzone, Maricopa County sheriff, said: “it will create confusion or challenges more than benefits or protecting the Second Amendment.”

Meanwhile, the bill was promoted by Republican legislator Leo Biasiucci, who stated that the goal is for Arizona to become a “sanctuary state” for the Second Amendment.

Proud to announce that Arizona citizens now have an extra layer of protection regarding the 2nd amendment. My bill, HB2111, was signed by @dougducey yesterday! us 🗽🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/et87HvysaS

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects the right of the American people to keep and bear arms, as part of the individual rights of every citizen: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” the founding document states.
