“Democrats just blocked a vote to require a plan from President Biden to bring Americans home and to account for all the military equipment he left behind.” So said House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday.

Amid Democrats’ attempt to avoid demanding a better response to the crisis in Afghanistan, McCarthy maintained that the Republican Party will keep looking for solutions until all Americans return home.

“Republicans will not stop until every American is home safely,” he said.

To bring Americans from Afghanistan, a thwarted plan

This Tuesday is the deadline for the departure of Americans from Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover of the territory and despite Biden’s promise to return all American citizens to the United States, that goal was not achieved.

Last Monday, General Kenneth McKenzi, during a press conference at the Pentagon, acknowledged that, during the Democratic administration’s evacuation plan, they failed to get all Americans out of Afghanistan.

“There’s a lot of heartbreak associated with this departure. We did not get everyone out that we wanted to get out,” the military officer said.

The White House’s strategy for withdrawing U.S. troops from Afghanistan has been criticized by American society. For example, about 90 retired U.S. generals and admirals called on Monday for the resignation of Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Lloyd Austin, Secretary of Defense, for their actions during the withdrawal.

In a statement, the military stressed that the consequences of these actions will have repercussions on American society for years to come. They also highlighted the loss of millions of dollars in equipment and weapons that have been left in the hands of the Taliban.
