Never before has a so-called moderate so delighted America’s most progressive media. After President Joe Biden’s inauguration, the main newspapers and news networks, mostly Democrat-leaning, showered the new president with praise and filled the media spotlight with such inconsequential topics as the “new air in the White House” or… Hunter Biden’s bagels.
The liberal-Democrat media have been so fawning that even Politico came out and called for “moderation”.
“At a time when much of the country thinks of the media as a tool of the left, perhaps it’s time to tone down the adulation of Biden,” Jack Shafer’s article reads. “A little less boot-licking seems like a sensible idea,” the author said, referring to the amount of mindless praise directed at the fledgling Democratic Administration.
The Washington Post followed the program, crediting Biden for not waiting “long to start staffing his administration by swearing in top White House aides,” as if previous incoming presidents had dawdled over taking the reins,” Shafer continued.
Shafer “swallowed whole the recent myth-making that has transformed Biden from a shifty politician into a statesman, conveying his call for civility and unity and portraying him as a disciplined, restrained character when anybody who has studied his career knows he’s anything but.”
The situation has been so uncomfortable that The Wall Street Journal also criticized the more progressive media reports. For example, the journal mentioned reports by CNN’s Kate Bennett, which read statements from anonymous sources about the new positive aura in DC since Biden’s arrival.
“There were late-night movie binges in the White House theater room, complete with appetizers from White House cooks, many of the Biden’s five oldest grandchildren crowded into the seats to watch, said another source familiar with the activities. The increased activity was met with pandemic precautions, including the use of masks.”
All that reporting with CNN’s anonymous sources was meant to show that there is now an air of magical friendliness in the Biden White House.
But it wasn’t just President Joe Biden who was the subject of praise; the media was also delighted with Hunter Biden’s great performance as he bought some bagels. A demonstration of the president’s son’s great ability to buy breakfast – quite a feat!
Sunday news: Hunter Biden’s bagels
“En route back from church, Biden diverted motorcade so Hunter Biden could make a food run at Call Your Mother, arguably the best bagel shop in DC. Hunter stood at the window several minutes for the takeout order as his dad and daughters waited in the car” said Matt Viser, Washington Post reporter on his Twitter account.
Anyway, there was a contradiction in the story, because another reporter, this time from NBC, said that it was not Hunter but the secret service that was in charge of the laudable mission of finding the breakfast. Here we must digress and ask for clarity from the media: did Hunter buy the bagel or not?
At the same time, the reporter also pointed out that Biden did not get off the motorcade, but had the courtesy to greet the spectators.
And this version was quoted by the official Call Your Mother account.
“What a GREAT Sunday surprise! Thrilled to have an admin again who will love all that DC has to offer — starting with sesame bagels!! Come back anytime @JoeBiden,” the restaurant wrote on Twitter.”
This mini-media ecstasy over Hunter Biden’s bagels and his father’s greetings was met with criticism from The Wall Street Journal, “Will the media cover foreign influence peddling as extensively as breakfast shopping?”
At the same time, the House GOP Twitter account scoffed at the extensive coverage by journalists, especially the WaPo: “This is the most coverage Hunter Biden has ever received by the mainstream media. What a joke.”
The mainstream media focused on Hunter Biden’s bagels but systematically ignored the story of Hunter Biden and his foreign business dealings with the Ukrainian company Burisma or the Chinese firm CEFC China Energy. Moreover, many labeled these business dealings as Russian disinformation, but today, the FBI is investigating Hunter Biden because of these relationships.
On this issue, a spokesman for Senator Lindsey Graham, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, “told Fox News that it is “very likely” that the Hunter Biden investigation will be addressed at Judge Merrick Garland’s hearing for attorney general.”
So while Joe Biden signs 17 executive orders in less than a week in office, blocks construction of the Keystone, destroying thousands of jobs for workers in the area, and needs to implement a plan to improve vaccine doses distribution, his son is embroiled in a federal investigation and the mainstream media is thrilled because movie nights are happening at the White House and because of the mystery of Hunter Biden’s bagels.
Bagels and circus, it seems.
