NYC and DC Mayors, Both Open Border Hypocrites, Complain of Influx of Bused Migrants

Hypocritical New York and DC Mayors Complain about the Influx of Illegal Migrants

The mayors of NYC and Washington, D.C., (both Democrats) have voiced their outrage after Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey (both Republicans) decided to send busloads of illegal immigrants to those so-called sanctuary cities.

Although for years both mayors have ratified their support and protection of illegal immigrants, now that Abbott and Ducey are sending them buses, they are declaring a crisis and asking for federal funds to address it.

Sanctuary cities are those localities that restrict the cooperation of local law enforcement with federal immigration agencies. They prevent the detention and deportation of migrants.

But the fact is that for a little more than a year, the southern border of the country has been facing a serious immigration crisis where Texas alone receives at least 4,000 illegal migrants a day, thus generating a real crisis and jeopardizing national security. The situation is such that the governors of Texas and Arizona decided to call Biden’s attention by sending busloads of migrants to those cities that pledge to protect them.

According to Fox News, the migrants on those buses receive a waiver form that states that New York City “has been designated as a sanctuary city by its City Council, and is providing shelter and food to migrants who have entered the country.”

So far, both governors have sent just over 10,000 migrants and the mayors of those sanctuary cities have chosen to criticize the bus loads while calling for federal funding and assistance.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has repeatedly called for the deployment of the National Guard while describing the influx of migrants as a “humanitarian crisis.”

Eric Adams has also called for federal help: “We just need help. We need help.”

Ironically, this urgent help that the mayors of sanctuary cities are asking for is the same help that Abbott has been asking for since the beginning of the crisis – yet no response or solution to the situation is forthcoming. While both New York and Washington have received about 10,000 migrants, Texas receives about 200,000 every month.

“It’s just interesting to see some of these mayors who have invited and have created sanctuary cities to suddenly start complaining that they’ve got a few thousand immigrants when we’re dealing with millions,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said.

“New York is a sanctuary city. Mayor Adams said they welcome in illegal immigrants, but now that they have to deal with the reality of it they’re suddenly flummoxed and cannot handle it,” Abbott said in an interview

The U.S. reaches new record number of illegal migrants

According to Border Patrol figures, the US once again reached an all-time high in illegal migrant apprehensions. The new figure is 2,250,000 for the first ten months of the fiscal year 2022 and the count is expected to rise sharply by the close of the year in October. The previous record was 1,956,519.

Authorities expect the number to reach three million migrants as there are still two months left before the end of the fiscal year, an alarming figure, since there is a huge lack of control over who enters the country.

Arizona builds the wall with containers

Given the imminent increase in illegal migrants and the record numbers reached, Arizona’s governor ordered the filling of almost 400 meters of holes in the border fence in the Yuma area with containers, following the decision of Joe Biden’s administration to end the immigration program that sends asylum seekers back to Mexico. The construction will be funded with $6 million from the fiscal year 2023 state budget.

“Our border communities are being used as the entryway to the United States, overwhelming law enforcement, hospitals, nonprofits and residents”, Ducey said in a statement.

The construction, which is being managed by the Arizona Department of Military and Emergency Affairs, will use 60 containers stacked at the border and reinforced with barbed wire on top.
