El American’s Idiocy of the Week comes loaded with progressive reactions to the Supreme Court’s leak of its possible decision related to Roe v. Wade. Some are absurd and incoherent “blather,” others are malicious and borderline criminal, but all are worth a review.
A few days ago, a Supreme Court draft was leaked — conveniently for a struggling government — that would strike down the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that made abortion a constitutional right. But no, what the Supreme Court leak says does not imply that abortion will become illegal or forbidden in the United States, as the left would have us believe — and watch out, conservative sectors have also misinterpreted its meaning, celebrating it as if it were so.
What this decision would imply is that it will be each state, through its elected representatives, who will decide on this controversial issue. To be clear, women in blue states like California will be able to continue to get rid of their unwanted pregnancies and in others like New York, they will be able to continue to have abortions happily, in many cases after 9 months of pregnancy.
Some claim that the Supreme Court is going to ban abortion in America, but the truth is that in many cases it will still be possible to legally practice it even when the child is about to show its head; much more than idiocy or a bad joke, this claim is a blatant lie. And this lie must be aborted.
But of course, this leak comes in handy for the left to make a fuss and divert attention from the serious problems plaguing the country. The left, as always, is not going to allow reality to ruin its narrative and take away the possibility of practicing some of its favorite hobbies, such as taking to the streets, burning containers, smashing shop windows, and harassing those who think differently.
Turning this Supreme Court leak into a moral debate on abortion is a folly in the interest of the left, and to play into their game would be idiotic on the part of the right. In reality, this is arguably nothing more than a legal and technical decision that democratizes the decision on the limits of abortion, leaving it in the hands of the voters of each state.
Progressive reactions to the Supreme Court leak on Roe v. Wade
Evidently, the progressives have put their media machine on full throttle and the reactions of many politicians and celebrities have been very striking and hilarious — to say the least — because of their contradictions and inconsistencies.
One of my favorites is Bill Gates, who on Twitter was “shocked” by the news and said he supports “a woman’s right to make their own decisions about their health care.” He’s been supporting and funding those who, let’s say, didn’t respect everyone’s health care decisions for years, and now he’s coming out swinging with this. I don’t know Bill, it sounds like hypocrisy.
Feminists have also dusted off the “my body, my decision” banner after two years in which they had it locked away in the storage room. And they have also given new luster to the slogan that “men cannot have a say in pregnancies,” after they have been trying to spoon-feed us that “men can also get pregnant” or that the biological definition of woman has been for them a disputed and debatable term. How things change from one day to the next!
The same people who tried to impose vaccines on the rest are trying to give us lessons in bodily autonomy. A flawless logic.
Another classic that could not be missed is that of appealing to the exodus. In 2016 many threatened to move to Canada if Trump won. Unfortunately, they did not. Recently they also threatened to get out of Twitter if Elon Musk bought it, but they are still there. Well, now washed-up celebrities like Rosanna Arquette are saying “Millions of Women Figuring Out How to Get Out of This Country for Good.”
Millions! Rosanna looks like she’s been binge-watching The Handmaid’s Tale, and she’s been a little over the top. Relax woman, no need to emigrate, you can always go to New York or Chicago to feel safe and live peacefully.
The one who did delete her Twitter account in an act of self-cancellation worthy of mention was the very liberal, tolerant and anti-racist artist Amanda Duarte. She deleted her account after calling Supreme Court justices “white supremacists” and, in the same tweet, asserting that they would think differently if their daughters were raped and impregnated by black men. It’s a shame she deleted it because it achieved the accomplishment of being the most racist anti-white-supremacist tweet in history.
Another very good thing has been the reaction of different groups of activists and professional troublemakers who are taking advantage of the situation to harass Supreme Court justices or to attack associations that offer alternatives to abortion to pregnant women. These little angels are not on the list of domestic terrorists, where parents concerned about the sexual indoctrination of their children in schools are. This incongruity is almost as amusing as the fact that they have called for demonstrations and protests for the upcoming Mother’s Day.
If demonstrating in favor of abortion on Mother’s Day doesn’t cause a rift in the space-time continuum, nothing will.
There are many more progressive reactions to the Supreme Court leak that could have made it into this section of El American’s Idiocy of the Week, but since we know the Democrats won’t drop this bone until the next midterm elections at the earliest, we trust they can appear in future editions.
