The Idiot of the Week: Andrew Yang

El idiota de la semana: Andrew Yang

Leer en Español

A few months ago, Andrew Yang announced his candidacy for mayor of New York with the endorsement of Democratic Congressman Ritchie Torres, but so far the only thing he has won is El American’s Idiot of the Week award.

It’s happened to Andrew Yang as it happened to Évian, who took our award for an apology tweet. Last Tuesday, Yang used his Twitter account to offer his support to the people of Israel, who in recent days have been subjected to relentless bombardment by Hamas terrorists.

I’m standing with the people of Israel who are coming under bombardment attacks, and condemn the Hamas terrorists. The people of NYC will always stand with our brothers and sisters in Israel who face down terrorism and persevere.

At the moment, the Twitter left – always so much on the side of the pariahs of the Earth and the starving legion – attacked Andrew Yang for his behavior. Even fellow Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) criticized Yang for supporting Israel.

Utterly shameful for Yang to try to show up to an Eid event after sending out a chest-thumping statement of support for a strike killing 9 children, especially after his silence as Al-Aqsa was attacked.

But then to try that in Astoria? During Ramadan?! They will let you know. https://t.co/r721mHyfri

AOC finds it embarrassing that Yang went to a Muslim event in New York after tweeting in support of Israel’s victims. She did not find it shameful that the organizers revoked Yang’s invitation because of this tweet, but that he showed up there.

Perhaps what AOC found appalling is that Yang’s Twitter comment was merely calling for and to Israelis being by Hamas. In any case, since AOC already has the Idiot of the Week award, and almost every week she gives us ample reason for her nomination, today’s goes to Andrew Yang for running to apologize

The apology

The next day, Yang posted another tweet expressing that it had been explained to him that supporting the Israeli victims of the Hamas bombing was wrong; that the thing to do is to support all victims equally. We’ll add that it would almost be better to support only Palestinian victims, so as not to get in trouble with the left.

Andrew Yang apologized for being “overly simplistic” in his treatment of the conflict, and then drew a very complex and elaborate conclusion: to “pray that the current situation is resolved as quickly as possible, peacefully and with minimal suffering.”

Thank you Andrew Yang for revealing your not-so-simplistic secret to eradicating this complex problem. The truth is that we don’t know how we had not thought of praying holding hands singing Hakuna Matata under the rainbow before.

Andrew Yang’s apology hints at just how far to the radical left the Democratic Party is, almost seeming to align itself more with the Hamas terrorists who launched thousands of rockets on Israel’s civilian population than with those defending themselves from those attacks.
