El American’s Idiot of the Week award goes to the New York City Public Design Commission which, in its frenzy to join the cancellation culture craze, has decided to remove the statue of none other than one of the Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson.

Frankly, we don’t quite know what a New York City Public Design Commission is or what it is even supposed to do, other than waste tax dollars on the debate of the design of public spaces. The Commission, apparently afraid of losing its funding, bent over to the demands of the radical left and unanimously voted to remove a Jefferson statue.

This measure puts an end to one of New York City’s most pressing problems, but it will surely also help solve difficulties plaguing the entire country, such as runaway inflation and shortages of products. But don’t be too pessimistic, perhaps the remedy of this issue will spill over to the southern border and help fix things down there as well.

Thomas Jefferson wasn’t woke enough for the New York City Public Design Commission

Thomas Jefferson was one of slavery’s biggest detractors and said it was a “moral depravity” and a “hideous blot” on the country’s history, helping to lay the groundwork for its eventual abolition. However, the Committee recalls that Jefferson owned as many as 600 slaves—a standard practice at the time.

Despite his contribution to the development of liberties in the country by leading our nation as our 3rd President and drafting the Declaration of Independence, the Committee considers these actions to be trifles and not enough to forgive Jefferson for not having fought harder against the institution of slavery. He never went out to break glass, or burn public and private property with his right fist raised, nor did he speak out against white privilege, or inherently slave capitalism. Nor is Jefferson known to have any manifestation of support for the MeToo movement, or for the rights of the more than 72 — for now — possible gender types.

It should definitely be canceled,

Jefferson must be cancelled, according to the members of the New York City Public Design Commission, advised—of course—by a group of university professors.

The day these college professors get around to teaching the racist past of the Democratic Party, we may be in for a surprise, but in the meantime, we don’t know what their next step will be.

We don’t know if they will be satisfied with just removing the statue of the founding father so that it doesn’t damage the sensitive eyes of anyone who might pass by, or if they will continue deliberating to replace it with one that, according to this committee, better embodies American values, such as Karl Marx.

While the New York City Public Design Commission thinks about it, we voted unanimously to give El American’s Idiot of the Week award to this great Commission.
