For independents and Republicans, Trump should return to social media, according to the Internet Accountability Project.

The Project, a conservative organization focused on evaluating freedom of speech on the Internet, conducted a survey among independents and Republicans in which they were asked: “whether Facebook and Instagram should have banned President Trump.” 97.53% of individuals responded that Big Tech should not have suspended Trump, while just 1% responded that he should have been suspended from the networks.

The Project asked whether Facebook should restore Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. Ninety-six percent responded that “yes” these accounts should be restored and 1.24 percent that they should not.

The organization also asked whether the U.S. government should have allowed Facebook to buy its competitors Instagram and WhatsApp. A wide margin between the figures reveals that 85% believe it should not have allowed such an acquisition compared to 6% who believe it should have.

The same result was also obtained when respondents were asked whether the American government should have allowed Google to buy YouTube. Eighty-five percent believe it should not have been allowed, compared to 6 percent who believe it should have.

Respondents were also 86% in favor of Congress giving more resources to antitrust agencies to enforce American antitrust laws, while 5% felt it should not.

Seventy-six percent agreed that Big Tech companies like Facebook and Google should have to pay more for these increased agency resources. Only 10% were against the idea.

An overwhelming 97% believe that Americans should have more control and ownership of their online data. A minimal 0.82% were against it.

Regarding the hefty charge that Apple and Google impose on their competitors as a markup (as in the case of Spotify, which they charge 30%) to be placed in their online stores, 79% believe that such a policy should not be allowed, compared to 9% who believe it should be allowed.
