CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, who is also the brother of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, is embroiled in scandals that reportedly involve ethical violations that, for some, should may lead to his dismissal.

Cuomo avoided giving coverage to news linked to his brother and decided to advise him in the management of communications after dozens of sexual harassment allegations. Added to this is the alleged influence-peddling for having received the COVID-19 vaccine as a priority.

A lack of journalist ethics?

A Columbia Journalism School professor and New Yorker staff writer, Nicholas Lemann, pointed out to Breibart that Chris Cuomo’s ethics violation is “not okay.”

“If you are actively advising a politician in trouble while being an on-air host on a news network, that’s not okay,” Lemann said.

Fox News contributor Joe Concha called Chris Cuomo an activist while asserting that CNN should have fired him “several times” for various infractions.

Concha went on to list a series of alleged ethical infractions that he said could have led to the firing of anyone else. He said Cuomo had received COVID-19 priority testing in March 2020, along with other family members, at the direction of his brother.

The Fox News contributor also added that Chris Cuomo should not work at CNN but run for office for the Democratic Party or work for his brother.

The Washington Post also voices concerns

But Concha is not the only one who strongly criticized the “infractions” of the New York governor’s brother, Erik Wemple of the Washington Post denounced in an Opinion piece that Chris Cuomo does not report on his CNN space about the allegations surrounding his brother because he “serves him as an advisor.”

“The reason that Chris Cuomo “acknowledges” that it was inappropriate to advise his brother in strategy sessions is because, well, he got caught violating one of journalism’s clearest ethical red lines,” Wemple said.

“Chris Cuomo deserves every bit of ridicule thrown his way. Folks who work in journalism make a decision: We’re here to cover politicians and their consiglieres, not to work with them. The next time Chris Cuomo appears on air, he should disclose all of his advice-dispensing activities and beg for the forgiveness of his colleagues and peers,” said the journalist.

For her part, Fox Business host Lisa Kennedy denounced that Chris Cuomo “skipped the ethics lesson” by advising his brother at the same time he works as a journalist for CNN.
