President Joe Biden has starred in a series of episodes in public that have generated alarm and concern about his health.
Biden, who has stated he intends to run again for the Presidency, has given signs in different events that he may not be psychologically well, as he has appeared disoriented and even unfocused in countless public appearances.
The president has already admitted that he has problems in mentioning “the number of years” and that these difficulties are inherent to his age.
In an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes,” the president contradicted himself. He first pointed out that the years do affect his concentration, but then said he has not seen any problems.
“Look, I have trouble even mentioning, even telling myself, my own head, the number of years. I don’t consider myself older than flying. I mean, it’s just not – I haven’t – I haven’t observed anything in terms of – there’s no things that I don’t do now that I did before, whether it’s physical, mental or anything else,” he noted.
The president’s statements seem confusing, especially when there is evidence that he may not be in optimal condition.
Joe Biden shows signs of disorientation
This Thursday, September 29, Biden met with FEMA officials to discuss actions to be taken in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. However, after saying a few words, he left the scene in a surprising and “aimless” manner.
The same thing happened last September 22 during the Global Fund’s Seventh Replenishment Conference in New York. The president appeared confused as he could not find the exit to leave the stage.
Signs of disorientation
Last Wednesday, September 28, at an event attended by Biden, a video tribute to the late Republican Congresswoman Jackie Walorski was played; however, minutes later the president took the floor to ask about the honoree, “Jackie, Jackie is here? Where is Jackie?”
The same day Biden again appeared unfocused and without direction. His wife, Jill Biden, had to step up and show him the way out because the president – out in the open and in front of the cameras – did not know where to turn.
Last August 10, the president was at a public event and within seconds forgot he had already shaken hands with Sen. Chuck Schumer.
Biden’s disconcerting episodes in public, which have become reiterative, are causing much concern nationally, especially within the ranks of the GOP, whose leaders in Congress even went so far as to ask the president to take a cognitive test to be fully certain whether he is fit to hold the nation’s top job.
