Comedian and UFC commentator Joe Rogan advises Americans to vote Republican in the upcoming election, given the “serious mistakes” made by Democratic administrations during the pandemic, especially the vaccination mandates and restrictions on the freedom of those who refuse to obey them.

In the most recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, the host featured NFL star Aaron Rodgers, who came under heavy criticism amid the pandemic for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Amid their conversation, Rogan reflected on the decisions made by Republican governors like Ron DeSantis in Florida. They went out of their way to prioritize immediate health care for the elderly and those at high risk while ensuring citizens’ freedom.

“No one who is alive today has ever experienced a true pandemic, and I’m hoping — that now that this is over — people are going to recognize that some serious errors were made and not repeat those,” Rogan said, after a long conversation with Rodgers about the restrictions on freedom imposed during the health emergency. “That’s the best you can get out of it.”

When Rodgers asked Rogan what he would advise people to do about it, the host immediately replied, “Vote Republican,” and referred to the massive voter turnout that registered with the GOP in 2021, citing the policies that red states took in contrast to the Democrats.

“You look at guys like Ron DeSantis, who kept Florida open and had some pretty reasonable policies in terms of what to do about covid,” Rogan continued. “He mapped it out on television –and he was widely criticized for this– where he said, you know, we need to protect our elders, we need to make sure that medical care is available for those people, and everyone else, you should be able to do what you want to do, and protect your freedom.”

Rogan, who in the past has been a self-confessed Democratic voter, has said Barack Obama was a “great president” and has praised socialist Bernie Sanders on his own show, arguing that Democratic politicians who took advantage of the pandemic to impose harsh restrictions on freedom and punish those who exercised their freedom of medical choice will face no consequences.

Rodgers shares his personal experience with Rogan

During the conversation about Democratic measures such as sports vaccination mandates, Rodgers offered his experience of how officials tried to force him to get vaccinated.

One of the intimidation strategies Rodgers referred to was sending health officials’ “stooges” to try to convince team members to take the vaccines by showing them graphs with data on other teams’ “compliance” rates with vaccination mandates.

“Day three of training camp, they sent a stooge in, and he showed these slides about what your vaccination percentage was in your team, where you compared the rest of the league, and I started asking them questions about liability,” Rodgers recounted. “You don’t talk about anybody’s personal health issues, there’s zero exemptions, you took out religious exemptions, P.E.G exemptions, you took out anybody’s ability to have an opinion like ‘oh, I don’t want to do this’. It will not only affect your day-to-day status on the team, but your ability to get a job, to keep a job, to get a tryout if you get cut from this team, just because you want to put a percentage above 90 % of your team so you guys can have some sort of special virtue.”

The athlete added that the authorities threatened teams to take away their weekly pay if one of their unvaccinated players caused a wave of infections.

Rodgers also said that he was infected by a teammate who had been vaccinated (for the sole purpose of staying on the team), as were five other members of the organization who had also taken the vaccine.
