What Exactly Is John Kerry Doing in the Biden Administration? Congress investigates

John Kerry

Throughout his political career, John Kerry was Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, Senator for 28 years, Barack Obama’s Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for the Presidency in 2004. To this list must be added the title of U.S. Special Presidential Climate Envoy, a position created especially for him by the Biden administration and which is now in the eye of the storm.

It all started in March 2022, when Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) learned in the middle of an interview that Kerry’s salary was not public. “What? … That should be public. My salary is online. The Secretary of State’s is online, and the president is, too,” he reacted at the time.

As far as is known, Kerry’s job consists of traveling the world in a private jet, giving speeches about climate change and encouraging other governments to abandon fossil fuels.

The new Republican majority in the House of Representatives has already taken matters into its own hands and has begun investigating the office of the former Democratic nominee for President. The chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, James Comer (R-KY), sent a letter to Kerry demanding information and documents about his office in general. In addition, he asked for clarification of his ties to the Communist Party of China (CCP).

“To date, you have failed to respond to any of our requests,” Comer wrote to Kerry. “Yet, you continue to engage in activities that could undermine our economic health, skirt congressional authority, and threaten foreign policy under the guise of climate advocacy,” Comer said in an interview.

Early in his administration, the Biden administration created a new position in the federal government exclusively for John Kerry (EFE).

The lawmaker made this known to Kerry through the letter, in which he wrote that “We are left with an insufficient understanding of your office’s activities, spending, and staffing,” while requesting information to “enable long overdue oversight of your office.”

Comer, who has represented Kentucky’s 1st District in the House since 2016, wants to bring another approach to the committee. “I want to be transparent with the media in everything that we’re doing. I believe that the Committee needs to get back to its primary mission to root out waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in the federal government,” he said in a statement.

The congressman also pressed Kerry on the relationship with the CCP. He accused him of promoting “climate negotiations that the CCP does not even appear interested in entering.” As reported by Fox News, China is responsible for 27% of carbon emissions worldwide.

“As a member of the President’s cabinet, you should be representing the United States’ interests. Your statements, however, consistently show disregard for American national security and taxpayer dollars,” Comer added, going on to directly ask for documents and information about your office.
