The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is not related to cases of thrombosis. This was confirmed by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). The agency reported Friday that it carried out investigations in which it assessed the risk of the drug developing thromboembolism, according to AFP news agency.

It also detailed that it is analyzing three other vaccines, including the Russian Sputnik. This in order to authorize its use in the European Union. The move comes amid a divided Europe over the use of AstraZeneca.

Thrombus cases in the United States
According to Spain’s El País, the agency is investigating 4 cases among 4.9 million doses delivered. That is, 0.00008 %. One of them occurred during the clinical trial and three others in the United States.
On March 11, 2021, the EMA endorsed the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. However, the drug is still not being used in the European Union due to delays in the delivery of doses by the laboratory.
According to the EFE news agency, the first injections of this mono-dose vaccine are expected to reach European countries on April 19. At the moment, it is only being used in the United States.
