During the first day of the Student Action Summit (SAS) 2022 conference, organized by Turning Point USA in Tampa, Florida, Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley said the United States faces a “critical moment” in its history given the “radical” agenda of the Democratic left.

“The left’s agenda is something like I’ve never seen before,” the congressman said. “They’ve become so radical, so completely out of touch with reality.”

Referring to his discussion with a professor in Congress that went viral, Hawley noted that the left is pushing gender ideology to convince Americans that “men can get pregnant” and anyone who thinks otherwise is a “bigot.”

Hawley said the United States faces a “moment of institutional crisis,” with one side of the political spectrum attempting to “normalize” the narrative that the country is “systematically evil” and, consequently, all must be “tear down.”

The basis of the left’s woke ideology, according to Hawley, is nihilism. “What you are told every day in classes is that you have to agree with all the insanity,” the senator expressed. “They say that if you want to matter, you have to embrace their nihilism, help [them] take down this country, and become a victim.”

The solution, for Hawley, is individual responsibility to stand up for the truth. “Don’t believe the lies, whether it is at the campuses or on the media, that you don’t matter, that you are a part of the problem, don’t believe those lies. Instead, embrace the truth.”

“These are difficult times, yes,” the Republican emphasized. “These are challenging times, yes. But these are times in which our lives can make the difference.”
