Judge R. Stan Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia has halted the COVID vaccine mandate for federal contractors imposed by the Biden administration.

“The Court recognizes the tragic toll that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken on the entire country and the world. However, even in times of crisis, this Court must preserve the rule of law,” Baker wrote in a sentence obtained by The Hill

But this is not the first time that courts have prevented the vaccination mandate in the United States. Last week, a judge blocked the COVID-19 vaccination mandate for healthcare workers on U.S. soil.

The measure had been imposed by Joe Biden’s administration and would take effect on Monday, December 6, 2021. The Court’s ruling came in response to a lawsuit by Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen. Upon learning of the decision, Knudsen argued that health care workers who have chosen not to vaccinate themselves cannot now be threatened with dismissal.
