Vice President Kamala Harris has assured that she has not spoken with President Joe Biden about the possibility of running for re-election in 2024.

“‘I don’t think about it, nor have we talked about it, because we have not completed our first year and we are in the middle of a pandemic,” Harris said in an interview published by The Wall Street Journal.

Her statements come just three days after presidential spokeswoman Jen Psaki assured that Joe Biden, 79, intends to seek re-election in the 2024 elections, and amid reports that point to the existence of an internal debate within the Democratic ranks on the suitability of Biden as the candidate for the next presidential elections.

Asked whether she assumed Biden would run again, Harris insisted that it was a question she had not thought about and had not discussed with Biden.

In recent weeks, rumors have grown about discussions within the Democratic Party about the possibility of Biden running in 2024 due to his declining popularity and his 79 years, which make him the oldest president in U.S. history.

According to the newspaper, some Democrats have privately questioned whether Biden should lead the next campaign for the White House.
