Vice President Kamala Harris’ communications director resigned Thursday, amid the Biden administration’s worst popularity ratings in its 11 months in office.

According to Fox News, Ashley Etienne’s resignation was issued Thursday but will take effect next month. Etienne served as Nancy Pelosi’s communications director twice and has been a longtime White House adviser.

“Ashley is a valued member of the Vice President’s team, who has worked tirelessly to advance the goals of this administration,” a White House official told Fox News. “She is leaving the office in December to pursue other opportunities.”

The news emerges days after CNN published a report indicating “frustration” and “lack of focus” in the White House regarding Harris’ job, in which more than 30 people who spoke to the network pointed to internal problems in her office.

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos asked Harris about it during an interview, to which the vice president responded with her usual nervous laugh.

“Do you feel misused or underused?” asked Stephanopoulos to Harris, to which she replied, “No, I don’t.”

The latest polls are devastating for the Democratic administration, especially Harris. A recent USA Today poll gave the vice president just under 28% approval.
