The new governor of the state of New York, Kathy Hochul, was sworn in on Tuesday and became the first woman at the helm of this region of the United States, replacing Andrew Cuomo, who resigned two weeks ago.

“I am honored to be officially sworn in to be the 57th governor of New York,” wrote on her Twitter account Hochul, who until yesterday held the post of lieutenant governor.

After this act, which took place at midnight in New York, the new head of the state is expected to participate in a ceremony in which she will deliver her first speech.

Hochul will lead the state of New York until the 2022 elections, although she has already shown her intention to run for office to win her position at the polls and complete her term.

“I am the most prepared person to take on this responsibility and I am going to ask the voters to trust me again,” she assured mid-month in an interview with NBC.

Andrew Cuomo was forced to resign after ten years as governor, cornered by a dozen allegations of sexual harassment to which an investigation by the New York Attorney General’s Office gave credibility.
