Kim Jong-un appealed to “party ideology” to solve the people’s food and commodity shortages caused by his socialist policies, during his speech on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the single party, state-run KCNA reported today.

North Korea celebrated last Sunday the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party, and although apparently on this occasion there was no military parade, the country’s dictator and General Secretary of the party, Kim Jong-un made a speech at a commemorative conference.

“Socialism is considered as our life and future”, emphasized the North Korean dictator in his speech, according to information released by the state agency KCNA, and remarked the history of the party, “the longest of a party in socialist power.”

This is apparently the first time that the current North Korean leader has made a speech on the anniversary day of the founding of the Workers’ Party since he took power after the death of his father Kim Jong-il in 2011.

In his speech, Kim Jong-un, grandson and heir to Kim Il-sung, founding father of the Juché ideology, again appealed to it to “revitalize the national economy and solve the food problem” as well as shortages of other commodities.

“The ideological work of the party is to prepare all members of society as true subjects and fervent patriots armed with the revolutionary idea,” the Asian country’s news agency reported the speech.

North Korea is suffering the worst food crisis in a decade, the country reported earlier this year to the United Nations.
