The National Fraternal Order of Police, the largest police union in the United States, criticized player LeBron James after inciting hatred against a police officer. The NBA star tweeted a photo, which he later deleted, of the officer-involved shooting of Ma’Khia Bryant accompanied by the phrase ‘YOU’RE NEXT.’
“[LeBron James], with his vast resources & influence, should educate himself and, frankly, has a responsibility to do so, on the facts before weighing in. This is disgraceful & extremely reckless.” the union wrote on Twitter.
In addition, the organization referred to the police version that the officer protected another 16-year-old minor. “The officer saved a young girl’s life. No amount of gaslighting will change that fact.”

James tweeted a photo of the police officer involved in the Bryant shooting, Nicholas Reardon, and tweeted ‘YOU’RE NEXT,’ making a clear reference to the recent verdict of police officer Derek Chauvin, who was found guilty on all charges for the murder of George Floyd.
This Tuesday saw the death of a black teenager shot and killed by police in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred last Tuesday night. The victim was identified as Makiyah Bryant.
According to videos posted on social media and the authorities’ version, the teenager had threatened two other girls with a knife. However, the situation has generated several messages against the police and some citizens have taken to the streets to protest.
This Wednesday, during a press conference in which the authorities showed the video of what happened. Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther argued that the officer was protecting another 16-year-old girl. “We know from this footage that the officer took steps to protect another girl,” he said.
