The Latin Grammy Awards could be held for the first time outside the United States, according to the Latin Recording Academy on Wednesday. The event would be held in Sevilla, Spain.

However, the Academy explained that it is not yet a final decision. According to information published by several media, such as El País, it is a measure that has been under evaluation for months.

“We are considering Sevilla as the host city for the 24th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards this November, but we are still working out production details with our partners TelevisaUnivision,” said Manuel Abud, president of the Academy, in a brief statement sent to Efe.

He also indicated that the venue and date will be confirmed soon. “We will soon announce more details about the day and place for the next Latin Grammy Awards,” he added.

Manuel Abud met this Wednesday in Sevilla with the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, to discuss the issue. They discussed a three-year sponsorship agreement by the Andalusian Government for the event.

Abud clarified that this does not mean that it will always be held in Andalusia. The awards gala has been held in recent years in Las Vegas, in the state of Nevada, after having been held in Miami.

Efe explained that “last November, Miami art collector and gallery owner Gary Nader offered through an open letter a contribution of 5 million dollars to get the Latin Grammy Awards to be held again in Miami, the cultural capital of Latin America.”

“With this proposal, I am confident that all parties involved can quickly decide to make Miami the host of the 24th annual Latin Grammy Awards,” commented Nader.
