A recent poll conducted by Trafalgar Group revealed that less than half of American voters approve of the Biden administration’s performance since its inception.

Some 47.5% of respondents said they strongly disapprove of Joe Biden’s tenure, compared to 48.3% who approve.

The Trafalgar Group poll provides more data regarding Democrats and Republicans and how voters profile the leadership in both parties.

Likely Democratic primary voters were asked what their inclination would be if Joe Biden were to run for re-election in the 2024 Democratic presidential primary. 36.7% emerged as solidly voting for the incumbent in that scenario.

Some 20.7% said they would “probably” vote for the president and 7.9% responded that they would “consider voting” for Biden.

Some 5.2% said they would “probably not vote for him,” while 17% said they would be “very unlikely to vote” for the Democrat.

Democratic voters prefer Kamala over Biden

An interesting tidbit in these numbers is that these same Democratic voters are more supportive of Kamala Harris than they are of Joe Biden himself.

When asked about a scenario in which Biden does not run in 2024, 41.3% said they would support Kamala Harris in the presidential race.

In this scenario, Harris is followed by current Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at 9.3% and radical Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at 8%, ahead of Klobuchar, Beto O’Rourke and Andrew Yang.

DeSantis and Trump fight for the future of the Republican Party

Republican voters were also participants in the Trafalgar poll and rank Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump as their favorites to lead the Republican Party in the 2024 election.

49.1 % of likely Republican primary voters believe they would “absolutely vote” for Donald Trump, if he were to run in 2024. 12.4 % said they would probably vote for the former president and 7.8 % said they would consider it.

If Donald Trump decides not to run in 2024, 35 % of Republican voters – who would vote in primaries – said they would support Ron DeSantis, followed by Senator Ted Cruz with 15.3 % and Senator Mitt Romney with 10.3 %. Mike Pence ranks fourth with 10 % and Nikki Haley fifth with 6 %.

Among likely Republican primary voters who support Trump, 47.6 % said they would support Ron DeSantis if Donald Trump did not run in the 2024 presidential primary.

In second place is Senator Ted Cruz with 20.4 % and former Vice President Mike Pence with 12 %.

A 9 % would support “someone else,” while Nikki Haley would be supported by a short 4 %.
