Lessons From the Failed Boycott on Hogwarts Legacy

The woke mob has done it again. They tried to boycott the release of Hogwarts Legacy, a video game based on Harry Potter0s universe. Their campaign has failed, because the game is a success, but it is also very likely that the woke harassment campaign has contributed to increasing sales. This bizarre case teaches us a number of lessons about how to deal with the woke mob.

Hogwarts Legacy takes place at the famous wizarding school during the 1880s, but is apparently not inclusive and diverse enough when it comes to representing members of the magical community of the time.

Although the real reason for the boycott is that JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter–who is not even directly involved in its development–has a different opinion than the transgender lobby when it comes to biology.

Since its development was announced, woke activists have succeeded in getting the initial chief designer fired for having a personal YouTube channel accused of being “reactionary” for having videos against feminist and social justice doctrine. They also got a video game company worker fired who, after being enthusiastic on Twitter about the game, was accused of transphobia for following Ben Shapiro and Libs of TikTok accounts.

A few days ago, a Twitch streamer had to cut a live stream in tears over chat harassment from transgender activists. However, despite dishonorably winning these battles, it seems that the game has ended up winning the war and is a sales success, thanks in large part to many fans banding together to denounce woke bullying and calling for the game to be purchased as an act of defiance in the face of their constant harassment campaigns.

The resounding failure of the boycott should make us reflect on how woke ideology works and how we deal with their attacks.

We should know that the woke horde is insatiable. Although the game made last-minute changes to include transgender characters, the harassment continued. The woke don’t want to solve problems, they just want to watch the world burn.

You should not give in or apologize in the face of their ridiculous demands. Not only will they not thank you, but it will increase their power. Woke ideology does not ask for respect or tolerance, it seeks the imposition of its values, and demands a complete ascription to all its postulates and most radical demands. It is not enough not to take a position, you have to defend them or always agree with them, in order not to be a victim of cancellation.

The sales success shows us that they are only a minority that is very noisy on the Internet and that they have the support of the media and institutions, but when it comes down to it, the silent majority has shown its fed-upness by buying the videogame.

This is an opportunity to certify the phrase “go woke, go broke” and go one step further. It’s not just that by going woke you’ll go broke, but there’s a huge market for companies that are explicitly anti-woke. And you have to take advantage of it.
