Nike filed a lawsuit Monday against the designers of the collection of satanic sneakers promoted by singer Lil Nas X, which despite bearing the company’s logo do not have its approval.

The complaint, for trademark infringement, was filed in federal court on the same day that the artist and the MSCHF art collective released a limited series of sneakers, which contain human blood on their soles and satanic artwork, and of which there are only 666 units, priced at $1,018.

All the sneakers, which are a modified version of the Nike Air Max 97 model, sold out moments after going on sale, causing an uproar for which Nike has even been accused of promoting Satanism.

The company had to respond to the criticism by assuring that they have not been involved in either the design or sale of the shoes.

“There is evidence of significant confusion in the marketplace, including calls to boycott Nike in response to the release of MSCH’s Satanic shoes, which are based on the mistaken belief that Nike has authorized or approved this product,” the company claims.

The sneakers were allegedly part of the promotion of Lil Nas X’s new video for the release of “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” in which the rapper is seen seducing the devil and pretending to have sex with him.

In the past, Lil Nas X has written books for children and has mentioned that this is his “target audience“, which has generated great indignation for the message of Satanism and perversion that he is now trying to transmit to minors.
