President Donald Trump announced that the presidential transition can begin even though he continues his judicial fight after denouncing electoral fraud without presenting sufficient evidence to support it. The great probability is that the president will leave the White House after four years in office. Nevertheless, his achievements as president of the most powerful country in the world are undeniable.

Trump, who has been described as a “dictator” for denouncing irregularities in the elections, took a step aside for the “interest of the country. He said that although the judicial cases remain in the courts, he will facilitate the transition process for a Joe Biden Administration, if ratified.

In practical terms, the transition involves making available $6.3 million for expenses of the new administration, such as hiring staff; $1 million more for training and orientation sessions; and beginning briefings with members of the current administration to prepare for the handover.

Despite continuing legal disputes, all indications are that Biden will take over the United States. However, after Trump left the White House, the great achievements he made for the benefit of the people, the region, and the world should be highlighted.

Donald Trump’s great achievements: justice, education and employment

The president made his mark on the Supreme Court by appointing three justices; and he nominated more than 200 conservative judges to federal courts. He also carried out criminal justice reform.

Also, in the area of education, the president approved permanent funding for historically black colleges and universities (HBCU). “When I took office, I promised to fight for HBCUs and my administration continues to deliver,” Trump said in signing the bill.

In terms of his economic accomplishments, Donald Trump set a record for lowering unemployment rates for both African Americans and Latinos; he achieved the lowest unemployment rates recorded in the last 50 years and the lowest poverty rate on record.

The president inherited an unemployment rate from Barack Obama of 6.6% of the working population and managed to put it at the lowest level in 50 years: 3.5%.

In 2017, growth reached 2.3% of gross domestic product (GDP) compared to 1.6% in 2016, Obama’s last year in office. In 2018 the GDP expanded 2.9% and in 2019 2.3%, figures much higher than those of other industrialized countries.

He also distinguished himself as a pro-life president, ending funding for groups that perform and promote abortion abroad. While participating in the March for Life in Washington, he stated that abortion is not family planning. He also signed an executive order protecting live births.

Trade agreements

Trump achieved the free trade agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada, better known as the USMCA. It went into effect on July 1, 2020 and opens markets for U.S. farmers and manufacturers.

The agreement replaces the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), in place since 1994, which both Trump and many unions in the country saw as a disadvantage to U.S. employment. According to the analyst, the new agreement generally increases growth and raises the standard of living in North America.

Foreign policy and national security

In terms of foreign policy, Trump kept his promises: he achieved the withdrawal of the Nuclear Agreement with Iran, the withdrawal of the Paris Agreement and the retraction of the advances maintained in the relations with Cuba.

The president also managed to revise and improve the agreement with South Korea and a “phase one” trade agreement with China. He lowered taxes, cut federal regulations and removed the country from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which according to specialists was stifling U.S. growth plans.

FiloNews recalls that the president also set out to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and move the U.S. Embassy to that city.

He also announced the withdrawal of American troops from the Syrian Arab Republic, news that was accompanied by the affirmation that the Islamic State had been defeated.

The President also managed to bring the relationship with North Korea to its lowest point of tension in years and to make the Islamic State lose its territorial “caliphate”. In addition, he ended the terrorist leaders Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Qasem Soleimani.

Regarding Venezuela, diplomat Robert Blackwill assured El Confidencial that Trump has handled the situation “with much ingenuity”, issuing sanctions and pressuring the exit of the tyranny in the South American country.

Fight against COVID-19

Although many are critical of Trump’s actions in relation to the coronavirus pandemic, he was able to mobilize resources to respond effectively, ensuring immediate hospital clearance and timely deliveries of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilators.

The President launched the Airlift Project to expedite imports of personal protective equipment and implemented a national testing plan by approving Operation Warp Speed, through which the administration made a multi-million dollar financial investment in the manufacture of a vaccine in order to obtain it as quickly as possible and in record time.

It remains to be seen what will happen if Joe Biden is ratified as President of the United States. While Donald Trump was characterized as an impulsive character in words, his actions speak for themselves in a management that has been described as successful, especially in economic matters.

  1. I was hoping this article would be one that I could send to my liberal American friends to show them that good things did happen– and to help them reflect on their bias.
Will El American be publishing such an article?
I think this kind of framing is more important now than ever.

Otherwise, it is a good summary highlighting the achievements of this president.
In the future, I would like some additional links to sources/data and more detail on broad references like “cut federal regulations” in order to make this article much stronger and more informative.

!Gracias Sabrina Martin Rondon y El American por publicar este articulo!
