Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, spent at least $419 million in 2020 elections to attract Democratic votes. This was revealed by an investigation conducted by the New York Post. However, the media explained that it was not a conventional political support.

According to the Post, Zuckerberg’s action was made with the purpose of obtaining private information about users. This, according to the media, with the purpose of supporting the government’s electoral operations by nominally nonpartisan, but demonstrably ideological nonprofit organizations.

“Analysis conducted by our team demonstrates this money significantly increased Joe Biden’s vote margin in key swing states. In places like Georgia, where Biden won by 12,000 votes, and Arizona, where he won by 10,000, the spending likely put him over the top.” the New York Post said.

Mark Zuckerberg’s action threatens the republic, says New York Post

In that sense, the media warned that this type of action is a threat to the functioning of the republic and democracy in the United States.

“This unprecedented merger of public election offices with private resources and personnel is an acute threat to our republic and should be the focus of electoral reform efforts moving forward.”

It further pointed out that the Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL), and the Center for Election Innovation and Research (CEIR), passed $419 million of Zuckerberg’s money into local government election offices with conditions attached.

Likewise, the newspaper explained that it is not a matter of Democrats outspending Republicans, but, in its opinion, private funding of electoral administration was virtually unknown in the American political system before the 2020 election.
