In a fit of rage and without being able to clearly answer questions about the accusation made by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador decided to attack Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), claiming that he is financed by those who defend the “production of weapons in the United States”.

“I say to Mr. Ted Cruz, I want proof (…) Because I do have proof that Ted Cruz has been given money by those who are in favor of the production of weapons in the United States,” said the president.

The Mexican president’s attack on Senator Cruz comes after he was asked about Senator Marco Rubio’s tweet about his relations with Mexican cartels and his defense of tyrannies in Latin America. Rubio tweeted Tuesday, “Glad to see that the Mexican president, who has turned over sections of his country to drug cartels and is an apologist for tyranny in Cuba, a murderous dictator in Nicaragua and a drug trafficker in Venezuela, will not be in the U.S. this week.”

Rubio’s tweet came after López Obrador announced that he would not attend the Summit of the Americas because the Biden administration decided not to invite the dictatorships of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

On the accusations regarding his relationship with drug trafficking, the Mexican president said he is not “Felipe Calderón, even if they don’t like it”, and went on to attack Senator Cruz.
