Miami will feature a 100-story skyscraper of the five-star Waldorf Astoria hotel chain, an icon of New York, with a height of 320 meters and mainly for residential apartments, according to the company’s website.

Billed as the tallest residential building south of the city, the tower will rise at 300 Biscayne Boulevard (Miami’s nerve center) and will have a spectacular view of the coastal and inland skyline of what is known as the “Magic City.”

The Waldorf Astoria Residences Miami will house 360 private residences, as well as suites and penthouses, a five-star hotel, an exclusive restaurant and common spaces such as a pool terrace, private cabanas, spa, fitness center and other amenities.

The project is the result of an agreement signed by real estate developers PMG and Greybrook Realty Partners, and the Hilton hotel company, owner of the iconic Waldorf Astoria in New York and other hotels around the world.

The Waldorf Astoria Miami “will offer close to 400 residences in studio configurations and 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom apartments, as well as penthouses,” David Nguah, a real estate broker with Douglas Elliman Real Estate, told EFE.

Nguah indicated that each apartment “will be built to the owner’s specifications and will be delivered completely finished at closing.”

“Homes at that height, in the sky, feature incredible spaces and layouts and boast some of the most breathtaking views in Miami,” he said.

Pricing for one-bedroom apartments starts at $1 million to as high as $4.9 million for four-bedroom residences, the specialist added.

The first Waldorf Astoria opened in New York in 1893 and the chain now has hotels in some 30 cities.

Since its inauguration in the city of skyscrapers, the Waldorf Astoria has been an icon of wealth, ostentation and power as the setting for luxurious galas and important political events.

Numerous prominent figures have stayed or lived in the hotel’s suites, such as Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, who stayed there in 1976, or John Lennon, Winston Churchill and all the presidents of the United States.

Not only did Frank Sinatra, Mia Farrow, Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor stayed at the Waldorf Astoria, they also lived there for years.

The absence of state taxes, an ideal environment to live and buy housing and the authorities’ winks to the technological companies to settle in Miami, are all a powerful magnet.

In fact, Florida was in 2020 the third state in which more people from elsewhere in the United States took up residence, as reported last January by the company U-Haul.

In 2020, the arrival in Florida of New Yorkers, who are settling in the touristy state in increasing numbers, drew attention. And according to ISG World’s Miami Report, about a thousand people move to Florida every day.
