A group of at least 400 Honduran migrants left on Tuesday for the Corinto point, bordering Guatemala, as part of a caravan heading toward the United States. The people continue to try to reach America despite the risks of the journey.

The migrants, according to EFE, left on foot from the Gran Central Metropolitana, the main bus terminal in San Pedro Sula, the country’s second largest city, carrying an extended flag of their country in blue and white and singing the national anthem.

The group had been meeting since Monday with the intention of planning the caravan and evaluating through which border point they would leave for the United States.

“We are leaving because we lost everything, some because of the [coronavirus] pandemic and others because of the floods [caused] by storms Eta and Iota [last November],” one of those affected, who did not reveal his identity, told EFE.

The migrant crisis

The Biden-Harris administration faces a migrant crisis after lifting some of the measures that former President Donald Trump had taken to prevent illegal migration.

Meanwhile, congressmen such as Beth Van Duyne, Republican from Texas, have revealed that Biden had been warned about the risks of lifting some restrictions imposed by Trump. Fox News detailed that the alert would have been made by officials of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (Customs and Border Protection).
