The presence of the Chinese Communist Party in Joe Biden’s Administration is becoming increasingly notorious and worrisome. This time it has come to light that his national security advisor, Jake Sullivan, along with senior advisor on China, Mira Rapp-Hooper, served as fellows at Yale University’s Paul Tsai China Center, which has been the target of millions of dollars in Chinese Communist Party cash. The Center also has members of the Chinese military and regime as fellows and spokespersons.

Who funds the Paul Tsai Center?

Natalie Winters of National Pulse recently reported that after a hiatus from the Center, it was re-established in 2016 following a $30 million donation from the late Paul Tsai’s son of the Vice Chairman and Alibaba co-founder Joseph Tsai.

Joseph Tsai is also a “sponsor” of the China-U.S. Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), a group backed by the Chinese Communist Party. CUSEF is a foundation that seeks to align pro-Beijing media and political discourse. In addition, another of its objectives is to influence American education through an institution called the United Labor Front (an affiliate of the Communist Party) that seeks to neutralize opposition to Beijing, as we reported in El American.

Reports the National Pulse that the Paul Tsai Center was also singled out in a Department of Education (DOE) letter requesting its cash-related financial records (estimated to be about $375 million). The center has not yet responded on the matter.

The Center states that its goal is to “improve relations between the two countries and increase understanding of China in the United States” and “works collaboratively with a wide range of China’s top experts from government, academia, and civil society” to do so.

Who are the (other) shills for the Communist Party of China?

Within the Biden-Harris Administration, these existing ties have been severely reinforced. Mira Rapp-Hooper, who has been appointed Senior Advisor to the Biden State Department on China in Policy Planning and at the United Nations, previously served as a Senior Fellow at the Paul Tsai China Center.

Jake Sullivan, a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Tsai Center, spoke in 2018 on the topic, “Can America Still Lead?” However, Sullivan has several ties to the Communist Party of China. We at El American have reported President Joe Biden’s national security advisor participated as a Senior Fellow at the Belfer Center, which has ties to the China Institute for Innovation, another arm of Xi Jinping’s Party.

In addition to Rapp-Hooper and Sullivan, other names such as Avril Haines, Ash Carter, Paul Rosen, Elizabeth D. Sherwood-Randall stand out as points of connection between the Chinese Communist Party and President Joe Biden.

Which Chinese officials have worked with the Paul Tsai China Center?

According to National Pulse, the Yale Center has had as faculty and visitors teachers from Chinese Communist Party-run universities, high-level Chinese Communist Party officials, and advisors to the People’s Liberation Army.

For example, the Center’s visiting fellow, Li Qiang, is also the deputy secretary general of the Beijing Military Law Society, director of the Institute of Military Law at the China University of Political Science and Law, and a former member of the “China People’s Liberation Army Air Force Law Expert Panel” from 2015-2020.

Visiting Professor Liu Chunling advised officials of the Communist Party of China on drafting “regulations on civil protection orders.” Meanwhile, Zhang Shaohua, also a visiting professor, served as Deputy Director General of the Senior Advisors’ Office of the People’s Bank of China and Secretary General of the Financial Research Center of the State Council Office.

Xiao Pinghui, another visiting professor, served as a former official of the China Food and Drug Administration, and described himself as “heavily involved in drafting policies and laws related to food and drug e-commerce” and revealed that he is a recipient of research grants supported by the Chinese regime.
