The Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, referred this Monday to the arrival of illegal immigrants to New York and acknowledged that the public services would be affected. He mainly explained that the arrival of these migrants would have an impact on schools and health services.

“Our schools are going to be impacted. Our healthcare system is going to be impacted. Our infrastructure is going to be impacted,” Adams said in a press conference.

Adams’ statements come after he said on Thursday that he is willing to take measures to receive illegal migrants. He said that his government is in contact with the White House and assured that he expects federal funds to be released for the care of migrants.

According to the latest reports, New York is facing the arrival of hundreds of migrants from Latin American countries. The Daily Mail detailed that “there are currently 48,000 staying in shelters in New York City. Adams described his city as overburdened”. However, the mayor stressed that they are not against the influx of citizens.

“This is the best city for people looking for housing. Nothing better than New York,” he added.
