Nikki Haley on Monday refuted that the Election Law in Georgia is racist. She argued that what is racist is thinking that minorities can’t get a photo ID. Two weeks ago, Republicans passed a state law that places requirements on voting by mail.

The law also prohibits giving food and drink to voters in exchange for votes. The measure has generated criticism from Democrats and large companies. However, Haley maintains that Americans know that these measures were taken to maintain the integrity of the vote.

“Democrats still think minorities are stupid. They are not stupid, they are perfectly capable of getting a picture ID,” Nikki Haley wrote on Twitter.

Republicans united

Just this Monday, Senate Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell rejected accusations about the unfairness of the law. “The president has repeatedly claimed that state-level debates over voting procedures are worse than Jim Crow or that they are ‘Jim Crow on steroids.’ No one believes it. No one believes that the current dispute comes from anywhere near the racist and horrible brutality of segregation,” McConnell said in a statement, picked up by EFE.

McConnell also lamented that big companies are joining in what he considers “bullying.” “Wealthy corporations have no problem operating in New York for example, which has fewer voting days than Georgia and requires an excuse to vote absentee,” he said.
