The left-wing New York Times is running cover for a ‘Trump supporter.’ It is not just any purported Trump supporter, either, but the ‘mystery man’ whose activities evidently sparked the first violent confrontation between rioters and Capitol Police on January 6.
Ray Epps, a man who has been captured on video attempting to incite an actual insurrection only to be called out by local protesters as a ‘Fed,’ got a feature story in Wednesday’s New York Times that paints him as a misunderstood man who has been the subject of ‘conspiracy theories.’
“Up a winding country road, in a trailer park a half-mile from a cattle ranch, lives a man whose life has been ruined by a Jan. 6 conspiracy theory,” the Times narrated in prosaic tones.
“Ray Epps has suffered enormously in the past 10 months as right-wing media figures and Republican politicians have baselessly described him as a covert government agent who helped to instigate the attack on the Capitol last year,” the Times adds, sympathetically.
“Strangers have assailed him as a coward and a traitor and have menacingly cautioned him to sleep with one eye open,” the Times continues. “He was forced to sell his business and his home in Arizona. Fearing for his safety and uncertain of his future, he and his wife moved into a mobile home in the foothills of the Rockies, with all of their belongings crammed into shipping containers in a high-desert meadow, a mile or two away.”
“And for what — lies?” Mr. Epps asked the other day with a look of pained exhaustion. “All of this, it’s just been hell.”
That’s the New York Times left-wing writers and editors working overtime to rehabilitate the image of a man who is deeply implicated at the ‘ground zero’ of the January 6 riots, which have been described by the far left as equivalent to Pearl Harbor and 9/11 rolled into one.
“First they pointed at antifa, the leftist activists who have a history of clashing with Mr. Trump’s backers but who did not show up when the Capitol was breached,” the Times continued, falsely. “Then they tried to fault the F.B.I., which, according to those who spread the baseless tale, planned the attack to provoke a crackdown on conservatives.”
It is known for a fact that the FBI was working the January 6 riots at the time the far-right extremists undertook a planned siege. In fact, the New York Times reported in October that FBI agents received texts from Proud Boys groups they had infiltrated that cleared Donald Trump of any participation in an organized plot against the United States.
It wasn’t just the Old Gray Lady that has bent over backwards to exonerate Epps — extremely odd behavior for people who are for the political persecution of any Trump supporters at the Capitol building that day — but Democrats and members of the partisan January 6 committee.
“I know this will break some hearts,” Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said on Twitter in January. “For a few months, people like Tucker Carlson, MTG, Gaetz, and now Cruz have been ‘just asking questions’ about a man named Ray Epps.”
“He was on video the day before Jan 6 saying ‘we’re going INTO the capitol!’ The some in the crowd chanted ‘fed fed fed.’ Why? Who knows, maybe they knew he was videoed talking about breaking into the Capitol the day before it was to happen and wanted to create distance?” he said.
“Regardless, he was put on the FBI wanted list, then removed,” Kinzinger added. “Because of all of that, the conspiracy that he was an FBI agent has been gospel on the blogs and shows. -side note- this is why we have to address conspiracies not ignore them. He didn’t enter the Capitol on Jan 6, and was removed from the most wanted list because apparently he broke no laws.”
The New York Times also seems to have misled readers in an attempt to give Epps cover in June. The New York Times published a piece entitled Inside the Capitol Riot: An Exclusive Video Investigation. Revolver notes the Times told an outright lie about Ray Epps:
Ray Epps, an Arizona man seen in widely-circulated videos telling Trump supporters on multiple occasions to go into the Capitol, also seemed to have acted on his own.
The claim that Epps “seemed to have acted on his own” is a lie betrayed by the videos themselves, which show him coordinating with others at the Capitol riots.
So, the question becomes: Why are the January 6 committee and its puppets at the New York Times trying so hard to tell readers that there is no ‘there, there’ with mystery man Ray Epps?
The January 6 committee’s show trials is intended to cover up the truth, not to reveal it. And the New York Times running cover for a purported Trump supporter at the heart of the Capitol riots belies that the radical left knows the public is catching on that something dark and sinister is at the bottom of it.
Ashli Babbitt, Michael Byrd, Ray Epps, Michael Stenger, a number of officer suicides — it doesn’t add up. When the NY Times is trying this hard to exonerate a ‘Trump supporter,’ you know that something is really ‘off.’
