Protests were held in New York City on Monday against the City’s vaccine mandate. According to various media estimates, approximately 46,000 unvaccinated city employees have until November 1 to receive their first dose of vaccine. Many of them gathered in downtown Brooklyn and marched to City Hall to oppose the mandate, carrying with them signs that read “Do Not Comply,” and “Don’t F*ck With Us.”
But this is not the first attempt by workers to stop the measure. A legal campaign has also been launched to try to reverse the mandate and have their right to choose whether to be vaccinated recognized.
“Our case is ongoing in the Supreme Court and we continue to fight on behalf of our members,” Henry Garrido, the executive director of District Council 37, the largest public employee union in New York City, told EFE, which is fighting for the City Council to withdraw its ultimatum.

President Joe Biden announced weeks ago that all businesses with more than 100 employees should require their employees to be vaccinated or otherwise test negative for coronavirus on a weekly basis.
The move was opposed by several states and Republican voices that believe Americans should decide whether to vaccinate or not. At least 24 prosecutors decided to prioritize the freedom of decision of each individual, so they have assured that they will “fight” against Biden so that the imposition of vaccines does not directly affect the right to work of those who do not wish to be immunized.
“The federal government cannot impose sweeping vaccine mandates, and this oppressive power grab is unprecedented and unlawful,” Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody said in a statement.
