Palestine rejected Israel’s donation of more than 1 million vaccines. The donation was announced by Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, who assured that they will do whatever it takes to help Middle Eastern countries.

“Israel today agreed a deal to transfer 1.2 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine to the Palestinian Authority. We will continue to find effective ways to cooperate for the benefit of people in the region,” Lapid wrote on Twitter.

The State of Israel had released a video showing the arrival of the vaccines in Palestine through the Bitunia crossing. However, hours later, the Palestinian authorities reported that they would not accept the donation.

Israel’s donation

A month ago, Surgeon General Chezy Levy had already urged support for the Palestinian immunization program so as not to undermine the gains made in Israel. “If we don’t help them soon, morbidity among Israelis may be affected,” he warned.

Meanwhile, Israel has managed to vaccinate more than 60% of its citizens and last Friday recorded only 27 cases of COVID-19. Thus, the country returned to pre-pandemic normality and the use of masks is no longer mandatory.
