Pope Francis called on people to try to be poor inside, instead of continually seeking wealth, fame and success.

“The world, in fact, says that to be happy you have to be rich, powerful, always young and strong, have fame and success,” Francis said after praying the Angelus on this day that marks the Solemnity of All Saints.

“True fullness of life is attained” by being “poor inside. Those who think they are rich, successful and secure base everything on themselves and close themselves off from God and their brothers and sisters, while those who are aware of being poor and of not being self-sufficient remain open to God and to their neighbor. And he finds joy,” he added.

He defended “making oneself small” instead of “standing out from others; being meek, instead of trying to impose oneself; practicing mercy, rather than thinking only of oneself; working for justice and peace, instead of nourishing, even with connivance, injustices and inequalities”.

Pope Francis has been strongly criticized by part of the Catholic community for his messages in which he advocates socialism and poverty.
